Mr. Green's Classroom Information

  1. This classroom may be videotaped at any time.
  2. Keep book bags and other items out of the aisles.
  3. Passes: In order for a student to leave the room for any reason, the student must have his or her Agenda. Each student is allotted 15 minutes of pass time for each nine week grading period.
    1. Requests made by school personnel to see a student are not applied toward the 15 minutes of pass time, and are noted as such on the student's pass slip.
    2. If a student needs more than the 15 minutes allotted, then he or she must stay in at break to "purchase" additional pass minutes at the rate of 2 minutes of break for each additional pass minute.
    3. If a student does not have his or her Agenda and pass slip, or has used all of his or her pass minutes, then the student may not be allowed to leave the room.
    4. Only one student at a time may leave the room. When more than one student requests to leave the room at the same time, requests will be handled on a first come, first served basis.
    5. The teacher reserves the right to deny or postpone a pass request made by a student.
  4. Tardies: You should be seated and ready for class when the tardy bell rings. If you are not, then you may be counted as tardy. For attendance purposes, 3 tardies equals one absence. Each set of 3 tardies will result in an office referral.
  5. Missed Work Due To Absences: Students have 3 days to make up missed work, including tests unless the student makes a written a request for additional time to complete the work within the 3 day time period, and the teacher notifies the student in writing that additional time will be allowed. Any assignment more that has not been granted an extension that is more than 5 days late may be accepted for reduced credit provided that I have a conference with the parent. Students will find a list of assignments posted on the web site (http://mikergreen2000.tripod.com).
    1. Copy missed notes from another student in the class. These may also be posted on the web site. You will need Adobe Reader in order to view the notes.
    2. Any handouts will be placed in your class folder on the gray filing cabinet, in the back of the room. Worksheets created by Mr. Green may also be posted on the web site. You will need Adobe Reader in order to view the handouts.
    3. If you have questions about a homework assignment, see the teacher at break, before, or after school.
    4. Tests must be made up either before or after school. Schedule an appointment with the teacher before you show up. If you choose to make the test up before school, be sure to allow enough time to complete the test. If the bell rings to start first block before you are finished, you will not be allowed extra time to finish the test.
  6. Homework Procedure:
    1. You will legibly write your name, the date of the assignment, and the assignment ID at the top right of each page. Pages without a name will not be graded. Papers without name, date, and ID; or with name, date, and ID not at the top right of the paper will have 10 points deducted from the final score.
    2. Number the problems going down the left margin of the page, skip a line between problems. Failure to follow this format could result in 10 points being deducted from your final score.
    3. Legibly show all work needed to arrive at the answer. If a calculator is used, then "work" indicates the keying sequence on the calculator. Failure to show necessary work could result in "NC" – no credit for the problem.
    4. If it does not crowd previous work, then a second column of problems may be worked on the same page.
    5. You may repeat steps 2 through 4 on the back of the paper.
    6. If additional pages are needed, then repeat steps 1 through 5.
    7. Turn in the homework at the start of class the next day, before I finish calling roll in order to get an "On Time" stamp.
    8. After I return the work, make any necessary corrections to the work as we go over the homework.
    9. Turn the work back in by the end of class, so that the teacher may grade it for correctness.
    10. Graded work will be placed in your class box in the back of the room on the black filing cabinet. It is your job to retrieve your graded papers.
  7. Late work:
    1. Work turned in by a student by the end of class on the due date without an "On Time" stamp will have 10 points deducted from the grade.
    2. Work turned in by a student after the due date without an "On Time" stamp will have 10 points deducted from the grade for each day late for the first 3 days. After 3 days, the work will receive half credit.
    3. Work with an "On Time" stamp turned in by a student more than 1 day after the due date will have 10 points deducted from the grade for each day late. After 3 days, the work will receive half credit.
    4. Work more than 5 days late may be accepted for half credit provided that I have a conference with the parent.
  8. Grading:
    Course Grade
    Test Average
    70%
    Other Assignments
    30%
